Tool Assisted Speedruns (GENS tutorial) - 2008/01/02 06:57
Here is my a tutorial on how to make a TAS using the Sega Genesis emulator GENS.
First load your rom. File > open rom or Ctrl + O:
Next your controls. Option > Joypads:
Once you have those configured you might want some other things like frame counter, lag counter etc.
Option > General:
Now your ready to record.
Tools > Movie > Record new movie
Now lower speed and increase speed by using the minus and plus keys or Tools > Slow Down speed (select your speed) > Slow Mode.
Save states with F5 and toggle through them with F6 and F7:
Then play fast... but UH OH! You died what will you do?
Well you can load states with F8 to undo the damage A.K.A Rerecoding:
Then find away around the certain obstacle:
Now once your done stop the movie. Tools > Movie > Stop movie.
Now you can play your movie back. Tools > Movie > Play Movie/Resume from Savestate.
And You my Friend have just created a TAS
