Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - 2008/03/17 06:57 Hey guys, I have been caught by the interest of your site. I have beaten OoT over 20 times, and I was wondering if anyone would like to see it speed ran. There is just one thing... I was wondering if I could take advantage of ANY glitch I can find. Because there is one MAJOR glitch in the game (my rom release specific/not in real game) that allows me to fly... and no its not AT ALL a hack, though there is a hoack of this kind. Leave a comment.

Re:Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - 2008/03/17 08:20 Surprisingly you are not the only one who played this game a lot
The popularity of this game led to a lot of unassisted and assisted speedruns, lots of discovered tricks and glitches and masses of unnecessary new Ocarina of Time threads both at SDA and tasvideos.

In case you want to make a run of OoT consider taking a look at the 225 pages thread at SDA and the 191 pages thread at tasvideos. They contain the common known tricks and knowledge of the game. There actually exists a page at tasvideos, which has a collection of info about OoT, but actually only contains a fraction of tricks most speedrunners of OoT already know.

My knowledge about the game is limited, but the current methods to overcome gravity usually involve using bombs and backward jumps or hoverboots.

Also worth mentioning is the "Reverse Bottle Adventure Glitch", which allows the player to change certain items into others (thus getting the medallions and skipping some dungeons).

I'm sorry, if this doesn't sound very motivating, but I just want to prevent the case, that you put yourself through a lot of work, which can't be accepted due to the lack of tricks used in the run.

If you do however already know the common tricks and this is a new unknown flying technique, this sounds like a great idea, which I am looking forward to. Consider exchanging info with other forums (like SDA and tasvideos), too.

Here is a list of OoT runs that I could find within 3 minutes:
unassisted:
3 runs at SDA: with save warping, SS and 100% (with save warping)
assisted:
current published run at tasvideos
tas of OoT with the bottle glitch, but rejected due to some missing techniques

Re:Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time - 2008/03/19 05:57 I understand what you are saying. I do agree that this would be hard... and I actually don't know ALL or even MOST of the tricks to the game either. After reading your post, I think I will read through those posts and MAYBE post a try again message later on. Thank you for your warning or I may have ended up spending an hour a couple of hours of unaccepted time.
