Competition #4 N64 Freestyle - 2007/10/29 03:15 It has been a long time now since the last competition so we need to start the next one at last. Here we go. This time you can choose your favorite N64 game to tas it.
The administration team, moderators and every submitter as well as the most active members has one vote each. The runs with the most votes wins. It is not allowed to vote for his own run so you have to vote for another one. The winner from this contest can choose his prize by himself. You can choose a game for Xbox360, PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii. But not only the winner gets a prize. Second and third place get a 10$ gift certificate from your local amazon store. You have to submit your run until decembre 21st. Choose your game wisely.
In addition we would recommend choosing a game that has no run before. Submit your run and grab your new game. Here are the rules for the submissions:

- Tool-Assisted
- Played with Mupen64
- No avi-files are accepted
- Only movie file accepted
- Recorded from reset
- Used no cheats or passwords
- Played on hardest difficulty
- Completes the game

During the last competition one member submitted 2 runs. I need to add that you can submit as much runs as you like to. When submitting the runs it is very important to read everything at the submission form and accepting the agreement. Else you do not participate with your run.

Re:Competition #4 N64 Freestyle - 2007/12/25 03:31 It seems like most of you do not like making N64 tas because there have only been 2 submissions this time. But nevertheless this raises the chances of the submitters to get the prize. The both submissions we got are Mishief Makers by Dark Fulgore and Mario Kart 64 by Dark Cloud. The movies will be encoded and published as soon as possible.

Re:Competition #4 N64 Freestyle - 2007/12/25 05:20 DAMN !!!!!!!!
A lot of people said that are TASing a game for the Contest !!!
Liars !!!
Where are them ???

N64 don't have much games to be TASed...
I think Genesis and GBA for the next Contest is better...I think this is the problem...

But we need to TAS !!
Contest are an awesome incentive for that...
Is very fun enter in the Contests, a healthy competition, why not participate ?
If you don't know to TAS, read the tutorials, ask me anything, I can help anytime...

I am very disappointed with all here.

A LOT of people that I saw online here during this month, anyone know how to TAS ?
Is so easy...
Them like to watch and comment the videos, this is a good thing, this show that they appreciate TASes...
But, why not record your own movies too ?
Is so fun to TAS...

I hope all can understand my point...

(My english sucks !)

Re:Competition #4 N64 Freestyle - 2007/12/25 05:49 I don't have fully skilled with grammar yet, but I might go to TASVideos again so that I memorize some stuff when I'm at certain points of TASing a game. I want to TAS the SNES Version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters, but I think we should make a Tutorial for a Fighting Game. The Computer Opponents in TMNT Tournament Fighters block more often than Street Fighter II.

I don't have fully skilled with grammar yet

That's Grammar for me!

Re:Competition #4 N64 Freestyle - 2007/12/26 03:01 @Dark Fulgore

I understand what you mean, as I was also looking forward to some nice runs. But I think we underestimated the additional difficulties of N64 tasing:

- analog support (several thousand possible directions)
- more frequent desynch issues (like Majora's Mask)
- third dimension
- no more pixels (more difficult to work with positions and lengths)
- harder access to ram-addresses
- games that aren't even emulated (Blast Corps, Donkey Kong 64)
- checking for optimal plugins
- less games (compared to NES for example)

Unfortunately, changing the game system does not necessarily solve the problem, as even there we slowly run out of good games to tas imo (especially at genesis games, I think; however, there might be a lot of games for gameboy advance, but I'm worried, that we get some 20 kiddie-pokemon runs then )

STILL, looking forward to your run, Fulgore

@Lorenzo

Your posts tend to get offtopic very soon, imo. This is the second time you start talking about TMNT out of the blue.
