Sometimes...

even if you do not want to you have to put an end to something. I am really sad and I could cry while typing these news. I will try to begin with the good news or so called good news. The site is not going to be shut down. But due to my private life and work I can not stand to administrate this page any longer as you have already noticed for sure. But as you have seen as well the spam has been nearly unstoppable and I had to lock the forums because of that. I am really sorry about all who submitted their runs which have not been published but I really hope and think that you can understand my point. I have 14 hrs/day of work and this is too much to administrate a site as well. But I will repeat myself to promise that the site will not shut down. If you are someone who would like to help here you are really welcome. If you want to encode the movies I will publish them. My main problem is that I can not find time to encode the movies. Publishing them is not a problem. So please contact me if you want to encode some movies. It would be great if you have some experience in doing so. I will go on spending money on contests if someone will encode the movies. So do not hesitate if you want to do so. We still got many movies in queue to be encoded and still tons of webspace for these movies and lots of future movies. Thanks to all of you for visiting our site. Thanks to all of you for submitting your runs. And thanks to all of you for being part of this community.

The other side of the coin

First I need to say that we are still here. But to describe the problem of the last time I need to tell a little bit out of my life. After serious personal problems I had to live at my parents house which is no fun once you left before. But due to that I was looking for a new flat. Finally I found one but it had to go fast. Over here it is pretty usual to have around 50+ interested parties for renting a certain apartment. This led to a very quick relocation. Unfortunately there are more strange things usual here than those many interested parties. It is usual as well to wait 4-10! weeks to get a highspeed connection in your home. So finally on march the 4th I was reconnected to the world. Raised from the dark world of the offliners. But as the title of these news say this is not the whole story. After finding out that my connection is way slower than it should be my provider told me that there happens to be a problem...To say it in short words I will have to wait even more until march 25th. Well at least the site itself is not affected by this problem but as the admin it is pretty difficult to handle a site offline. I hope you are appreciative of these problems. Thanks to all of you and see you soon.

End of Contest #4

It seems like most of you do not like making N64 tas because there have only been 2 submissions this time. But nevertheless this raises the chances of the submitters to get the prize. The both submissions we got are Mischief Makers by Dark Fulgore and Mario Kart 64 by Dark Cloud. The movies will be encoded and published as soon as possible.

Many people are watching our movies and have no idea how to make such movies. Due to Dark Fulgore's great tutorial we can show you how to make your own tool-assisted speedruns of Nintendo 64 games. You can find the tutorial at the tutorial section (content/view/302/325/) or in our forums (component/option,com_joomlaboard/Itemid,62/func,view/id,1172/catid,15/) where you can leave comments or ask anything that is not yet clear enough.
The Story about the Permission

It had been a day like any day before when I just speeded through the worldwide web looking for some fun videos and so on. Until I found something very interesting. As a member or downloader you surely know our license agreement when downloading movies. This is meant to protect the work of each player who submits his runs. Who had ever thought that a big site like http://www.abum.com itself would copy your work from here? Yes this is a little sensation. At the link at the end of this article you can see the proof. The movie was downloaded and the agreement was accepted though they edited the movie and cutted the movie and reposted the movie. The movie has not even been posted by any member it has been posted by 'abum'.Every player puts a lot of effort into each movie and only the ones who made or tried to make a tas know how much work it is. Copying others work without leaving credits to the author can not be tolerated and we always try to prevent this. If preventation is too late we will try the best to get you credited as we will do here. But not only abum copies our movies. http://crunchgear.com has the same movie posted. If you know any other sites who do so you have to tell us. Help us all that the work of the players is not senseless. In my opinion republication is alright and no problem as long as the author will be named. In spite of that opinion we build in the agreement to prevent such situations like the one described. The effort and the work of the player has to be protected and that is the reason of the agreement. Luckily in this case the movie got subtitles to credit the author though they are not as readable as the intro. As a reaction to these problems we will build in more clearly subtitles even though they will sometimes mask the movie itself. Only on this way we can make sure that the author gets credited as he earns to. Though in this case is no commercial background the effort of the players are misused. This is disrespectful and really embarassing. Links to edited and republished movies without any permission: http://www.abum.com (http://www.abum.com/55557/Gamer-makes-it-through-that-impossible-Mario-level-in-2-minutes.html)http://crunchgear.com (http://crunchgear.com/2007/05/11/hardest-mario-level-ever-as-played-by-a-lying-cheater/)
